After the Gathering: Dissonant Voices in the Irish Diaspora

Diaspora can be a difficult term to define…we’re talking broadly about people who have an affinity with Ireland, often because of their ancestry.” Dr. Michael Pierse

The Institute for Collaborative Research in the Humanities, Queens University, Belfast brought together leading researchers from Ireland, England, India and America to discuss key issues of the Irish diaspora one year on from the launch of After the Gathering.

They bring to light some of the lasting social influences and major impact that Irish emigrants have had in shaping and defining the countries in which they settled and the effect of their emigration on the Ireland they left behind.

With thanks to PRONI for their support in the filming of this discussion.
